Roadheader Operating Method

A. Traveling Mechanism
1. There are two operating sticks controlling the movement of the machine. Use the left stick to turn left and right stick to turn right.
2. Pull the operating stick forward to make the roadheader go forward, and pull it backward to make the machine go backward.
3. When turning a corner, pull both of the operating sticks simultaneously in the direction opposite with the turning direction of the machine.
Note: When the corner is relatively narrow, pay attention to not collide the front cutting head and the rear transporting machine with props nearby.
4. Tightening and loosening of the crawler belt:
(1) Tighten the crawler belt by greasing the check valve. The calcium-based grease will flow into the chamber along the valve. Once the piston rod reaches the required pressure, it will start working and pushing the guide block and pulley move outward.
(2) Open the check valve to loosen the crawler belt.

B. Shovel Plate Operation
(1. Shovel plate’s ascending and descending:
(1) Pull the operating stick backward to ascend the shovel plate. The ascending height of the shovel front could reach 500mm from the ground.
(2) Push the operating stick forward to descend the shovel plate. The descending range could reach 210mm.
Note:
(1) When the shovel plate is lifted and the cutting head is at its lowest, it’s easy to get the bottom of the cutting part collide with the star wheel, which makes it inconvenient for the roadheader machine to work. Therefore, the end of the shovel plate should touch the ground to prevent the machine from vibrating.
(2) The shovel plate should be lifted when the roadheader is moving.
2. Star wheel operation:
(1) Pull the operating stick forward to make the star wheel rotate anticlockwise.
(2) Pull the operating stick backward to make the star wheel rotate clockwise.
(3) Put the operating stick in the middle to stop the movement of the star wheel.

C. Transporting Mechanism Operation
Pull the operating stick forward to make the transporting machine turn anticlockwise. Pull the operating stick backward to make the transporting machine turn clockwise.
Note:
Huge coals and rocks should be smashed before transporting.

D. Cutting Head Operation
Pull the cutting head backward to start the cutting head start working, and pull the rotating stick forward to stop the cutting head.
Note: When the roadheader is positioned to cut, the cutting face would be 3.1m in height, 3.5m in width, and 0.9m in undercut.

E. Back Prop Operation
(1) Pull the operating stick forward to stretch the oil cylinder of the back prop and ascend the back part of the machine.
(2) Pull the operating stick backward to retract the oil cylinder of the back prop and descend the the back part of the machine.

F. Cutting Arm Operation
The cutting arm is composed of large arm, small arm and the cutting head connector. The movement of each arm is controlled by the left and right pilot sticks, so it's quite flexible and convenient to operate the cutting arm.
